> Journal description

Management Science and Business Decisions (MSBD) is a premier international venue for advancing the intersection of quantitative modeling and strategic organizational leadership. The journal focuses on the rigorous application of Analytical Decision Sciences and Operations Research tools to address complex challenges in modern organizations and industries.

> Core Philosophy

MSBD prioritizes the deployment of modern, objective decision-making techniques to solve both foundational and emerging management problems. The journal maintains a strict methodological standard, favoring objective weighting techniques and data-driven frameworks over subjective or traditional pairwise comparison-based methods (e.g., AHP/ANP). We welcome original research, innovative theories, and evaluative assessments that provide clear, scientific evidence for decision-makers and policy-makers. Non-parametric techniques are of particular interest.

> Aims & Scope

Management Science and Business Decisions (MSBD) is an international, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to the advancement of Analytical Decision Sciences and Operations Research. The journal provides a rigorous platform for research that utilizes mathematical, statistical, and systematic modeling to solve complex managerial and organizational challenges. Non-parametric techniques are of particular interest.

The journal’s identity is built on two primary, methodology-driven pillars:

Pillar 1: Data-Driven Quantitative Modeling and Forecasting

This pillar focuses on the technical and mathematical robustness of decision tools. We invite submissions that contribute to:

* Advanced Decision Modeling: Development and application of modern and time-tested/established Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) frameworks, including the Ordinal Priority Approach (OPA), Grey Relational Analysis (GRA), TOPSIS, and AI/ML-based decision-making models. To ensure methodological novelty, the journal prioritizes objective weighting techniques; traditional pairwise comparison-based methods (e.g., AHP/ANP) are generally considered outside the current scope of interest.

* Operations Research (OR) & Predictive Tools: Deployment of OR tools, AI/ML-based decision models, and Grey Forecasting for trend estimation and resource optimization.

* System Optimization: Mathematical modeling for industrial engineering, supply chains and logistics, and operations.

Pillar 2: Evaluative Assessments of Emerging Technologies and Human Systems

This pillar focuses on the socio-technical impact of analytical models on management and society. We invite submissions that apply the methodologies from Pillar 1 to:

* Emerging Technology Evaluation: Analytical assessments of the performance, barriers to adoption, and strategic impact of breakthrough technologies such as Generative AI, Big Data, and Sustainable Energy Systems.

* Organizational Decision-Making: Using data-driven tools to evaluate human behavior, consumer intentions, and organizational performance within diverse economies.

* Socio-Economic Policy & Simulations: Quantitative studies that provide objective evidence for policy-making and sustainable development.

Note: The journal's Aims & Scope were formally refined in January 2026 to prioritize Analytical Decision Sciences, Operations Research, and Non-parametric methodologies, ensuring a more specialized technical identity and higher scholarly rigor.

> Article Types & Requirements

1. Full-length Research Papers (Double-blind peer-reviewed) These are original empirical or theoretical contributions that form the backbone of the journal.

* Requirement: Must employ a robust data-driven quantitative methodology or time-series analysis.

* Focus: Application of models like MCDM (OPA, TOPSIS, GRA) or Forecasting to solve specific management or industrial problems.

2. Review Articles (Double-blind peer-reviewed) Comprehensive audits of existing literature that provide a roadmap for future research.

* Requirement: Must focus on emerging technologies (e.g., Generative AI, Blockchain) or established quantitative methodologies.

* Focus: These reviews must explicitly demonstrate how the discussed technology or method addresses specific organizational and managerial challenges.

* Frequency: Review Articles will be published occasionally.

3. Case Studies (Double-blind peer-reviewed) Real-world applications of decision-making frameworks in specific industries or economies.

* Requirement: Must move beyond descriptive narrative to include an evaluative assessment using quantitative indices or analytical tools.

* Focus: Bridging the gap between theory and practice by showing how analytical models function in complex, practical scenarios.

4. Short Communications (Double-blind peer-reviewed) Brief, high-impact papers focusing on urgent findings or methodological refinements.

* Requirement: Typically under 3,000 words; must maintain the same level of methodological rigor as full-length papers.

* Focus: Rapid evaluations of breakthrough trends or "proof of concept" applications of new decision models.

* Frequency: Short Communications will be published occasionally.

5. Editorials (Not peer-reviewed) Perspectives from the Editorial Board or invited experts.

* Focus: High-level commentary on the evolution of Management Science, the state of the industry, or introductory notes for Special Issues.

* Frequency: Editorials will be published occasionally.
